Winona Mitchell
Being involved in AE has brought me a lot of opportunity to advocate for public education, as well as other education majors. I am a secondary english education major born and raised in rural Nebraska, but since joining AE in college I have been able to testify in front of legislature on behalf of NSEA for the waiver of tuition for student teachers and been able to run for state Executive board. I feel that because I have lived in both rural Nebraska and also now in Lincoln that I represent the view points of a lot of Nebraska educators while keeping both rural and urban communities in mind.
