We're Back!!!
On July 17th the NSEA staff moved back into a remodeled NSEA HQ building. There is still some work being done by contractors but the staff is settling in to a beautiful new facility.Watch this page for open house activities for our members coming this fall. The progress on building remodeling continues within budget and points NSEA being able to move back into a completed building midsummer 2009. The NSEA Board and Staff have both had the opportunity to tour the project.

10/2008
As of October, the remodeling of the NSEA Headquarters building continues to be on time and on budget. Replacement of the roof is slightly behind schedule due to some unanticipated problems with the steel deck under the existing roof. Replacement of the deck is scheduled and flexibility in the project schedule means the roofing delay will not impact the overall schedule. The roofing should be completed in November. Installation of the storefront windows in the lobby areas and the fourth floor boardroom is underway and all of the storefront glass should be in by early November. Installation of fire suppression system is complete. Electric wiring, plumbing, heating and air conditioning as well as interior framing are also underway. The geothermal well field for the heat pump system is complete.

Six months into remodeling the NSEA Headquarters building, and the remodeling project is right on schedule. Demolition has been completed, and the exterior precast blocks that will be replaced by glass on the east side of the building have all been removed.
Drilling of the geothermal well field that will be used to heat and cool the building is nearly done. All of the subcontracts have been awarded.
Work on installing a new roof will begin in the next week or two, and installation of new windows will begin shortly after completion of the roof project.

Demolition and removal of asbestos is on schedule and nearly complete. The request for bids on the project went out in late June and closed on July 2nd. Some bids have already been awarded and the rest will be awarded within the next couple of weeks. We anticipate that work on drilling the geothermal well field will begin in late July. All permits and approvals are in place and remodel work on the building will start shortly.
We are currently on budget and on schedule to move back to a renovated headquarters building in August of 2009.

Remodeling Progress Report
Work is underway on the remodeling of the NSEA Headquarters. NSEA staff has moved operations to their temporary location at 27th and Old Cheney where they anticipate they will be until the summer of 2009. Demolition and asbestos removal of the interior of the headquarters building is underway. The last of the tenants are scheduled to move out of the 4th floor in late April at which point the building will be completely vacant. Demolition and asbestos removal will be completed and construction is scheduled to begin in late May. Check back on this page for a posting of the interior plans in the near future.

The NSEA Staff in Lincoln has relocated to a temporary location to facilitate the remodeling project of the headquarters office.
The temporary site is located at 5601 S. 27th Street (the northwest corner of 27 & Old Cheney in South Lincoln).
To make the transition as smooth as possible for our members, arrangements have been made for regular postal service to continue, using the same address:
605 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508.

Weitz Construction has been chosen as the contractor.

After interviewing three different architectural firms in Lincoln, the recommendation was made and approved to use Sinclair Hille Architects to handle the remodeling of the NSEA building. This decision was based on the following factors:
The team at Sinclair Hille were excellent listeners. We felt they did the best job of being responsive to the information we provided. They have extensive experience working in the Capitol Environs. They also have recent experience working on buildings with issues similar to ours. They are very strong with regard to environmentally friendly "green" architecture.
We are very comfortable with the Sinclair Hille team and believe that they will be excellent to work with. We believe they are genuinely interested in listening to or ideas and visions and helping us turn them into a reality to meet our needs as we move forward.
